My Boss

I think I have too many bosses, and maybe I always have. Growing up, my parents were my bosses, telling me what to do and when. Of course, my teachers also became my bosses, some really good, and some, well, not so much. Various other family members, neighbors, and other adult-type-persons also bossed me some.

Then, I entered the work world and found out about real bosses. From my humble beginnings delivering the newspaper for the Novato Advance, to my current position as a mail carrier on those same Novato streets, I have had many, many bosses. I will not comment on them, but to explain that the variety and diversity of my employment experiences has often led me to believe that old adage that the worst workers are the ones that are promoted. Sorry to any former or current boss that may be reading this, but that has been true for me.

When I met, and then later married, Gina, I had my best boss ever! I think Micheal Scott needs to give her his coffee mug for sure! She is loving and caring and yet keeps me on track and on task with a kind, yet firm hand. She's not even really a boss, but I have to include her on this list, because she helped make...

My New Boss! Yup, my little love bug of a daughter - Georgia! She tells me what to do - all of the time now! When she wants me to lay on the floor, she tells me so, and then pats her hand firmly on the carpet where she wants me. When she needs anything, she pats on me and tells me in loud, firm tones. Milk please! Dressy Bessy please! Up down please! And now the latest, Georgia's command from this morning.

"Daddy, get in the shower, RIGHT NOW!"

My newest boss, ladies and gentlemen. Quite the taskmaster, but so hard to refuse.

My Christmas Gift

Today I am using one of my Christmas gift's! My wife Gina opened this blog account for me! And she printed up business cards to accompany it! So the world, and more specifically Novato, CA, has been warned! I shall be posting the things I see, think, and feel about my hometown and the people that live here, as well as the goings on in my own life. It shall be interesting, humorous, and far-to-honest. Hmm...

As for my job as a letter carrier, today is a day off for me. But one funny thing did happen recently. This is the time when many kind customers give their carriers tips for the holiday. Often, they set them out by their mailbox with "Mailman" or even "Don" written on the envelope. One of my elderly customers did just that two days ago, and I put the envelope aside to read later. I couldn't believe she had left me a tip, as she had never done so before! When I opened it later at home... I found out it was not a tip at all. It was a complaint! It seems she did not get her TV Guide that week and was upset about it. So, I guess her tip for me was to get myself a second job overseeing the distribution of her precious TV Guide.

Merry Christmas!
